Space optimization will continue to be an important factor for distribution centers and manufacturers as companies continue to deal with limited budgets and no new plant construction. Carousels and Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs) save floor space, providing up to 50 feet of vertical storage in a very small footprint and improve productivity with the product being brought to the picker. Horizontal carousels can also be stacked up to three high for maximum space utilization. Carousels and VLMs can be grouped in pods of two or more so that an operator can pick from one unit while indexing a second. Carousels can also be used as buffers to temporarily hold items before shipment or return to inventory.
Horizontal and vertical carousels and VLMs are currently seen in the industry as offering a high return on investment. The modular design of carousels allows companies to quickly and automatically reconfigure their storage use as inventory changes.
