Controls Engineer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Design automation controls systems including power distribution, SCCR requirements, digital and analogue I/O requirements, and motion control systems
  • Program PLCs, HMIs, and Motion systems

Growing North San Diego County Packaging Equipment Manufacturer has a full-time position opening for an experienced Electro-Mechanical Machine Assembler.  This position requires two plus years of continuous, successful experience in basic to mid-level electro-mechanical small machine assembly or two years of related technical training.

Applicants are required to:

  • assemble basic, bench top sized machines and sub-assemblies containing electrical and pneumatic circuits while standing or sitting at a workbench

  • Use supplied BOM’s, drawings, schematics or samples to assemble electrical components to various sub plates utilizing basic hand tools which occasionally includes thread tapping tools and electric drills.
  • Then be able to accurately and neatly, wire together the components on the plate ensuring that all wires are the correct gauge and color and that connections are clean, tight and will not short out.
  • Be able to follow the wire paths and confirm that they match to the drawing in a neat and consistent fashion.

BASIC FUNCTION

Working from blueprint plans, lays out and performs fabrication of weldments.  Assumes ownership for processing quality work on time and adhering to standard welding processes. Must have ability to juggle multiple priorities and be customer-focused. Also needs to be a self-starter and take direction well from supervisor and/or Lead Welder.  

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs daily duties such as:

  • Interprets blueprints, sketches or other specifications.
  • Lays out and sets up work, determines operational sequence and devises suitable jigs or fixtures.
  • Selects welding rod of appropriate size and composition and selects proper equipment and settings.
  • Performs fabrication – e.g., welds, cuts, and bends materials with equipment that conforms to exacting requirements.
  • Varies procedures and techniques according to nature of work.
  • Performs inspection of weldments to ensure world-class quality.
